On 20/10/2022 AUTh organized and hosted an event for the official presentation of its 1st Gender Equality Plan (GEP) to the academic community and the public.
The Rector of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor Nikolaos Papaioannou, the Vice-Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning, Professor Efstratios Stylianidis, and the President of the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee of AUTh, Professor Dimitra Kogidou attended and addressed the event emphasizing the importance of the GEPs as an opportunity to implement structural changes towards achieving gender equality at all levels of operation of the institution as well as highlighting the challenges towards achieving this goal and the need for strong collaboration among all members of the academic community including the top management.
During the event, the RESET team of AUTh in collaboration with all the members of the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee of AUTh presented the methodological approach and the development process of AUTh GEP, the current situation, and the gender map of AUTh, the strategic goals, the objectives and the implementation plan of AUTh GEP.
The event was held in hybrid mode. The members of AUTh community and the public were able to attend the event either physically or virtually via live streaming.
Students, researchers, professors, administrative staff, AUTh GEB members, representatives of Gender Equality Committees of other local Universities, media and the press were amongst the audience that physically attended the event and participated in the discussions. More than 200 people attended the event virtually.
The organization of this event was part of the activities and measures foreseen in AUTh GEP under objective A1.2 “Spread awareness about the promotion of gender equality and inclusivity in AUTh; educate about the GEP and develop the capacity for the implementation of required policies, standards, and guidelines”
