Prof. Dimitra Hadjipavlou – Litina interview in local news portal

“Low number of women in Sciences”

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Professor Dimitra Hadjipavlou – Litina from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) shared her experiences as a woman in a male-dominated scientific sector, in an interview for the local news portal “www.karfitsa.gr“.

During her scientific career, Professor Hadjipavlou – Litina had many times to deal with the stereotypical obstacles that “this industry is male-dominated”. As she notes, “I found quite a few gender stereotypes. Especially in the phase of my application for the position of Professor, they told me: “It’s early, you’re young, you’re a woman!”. The advice she gives to her female students is to fight for what they want and not to let others decide for them.”
